Weekly Update

Downtown Ripley Celebration kick-off with the Party Planet concert being rained out on Thursday night.    Sun shinning Friday activities began with the sidewalk sale.  About 10 businesses participated.  Concession stands were set up by the Bank of Ripley cooking hot dogs along with lemonade,  Carl Perkins Center cooking BLT, Ripley cheerleaders selling popcorn, snow cones and bake goods.  If that was not enough Education Foundation sold Turner ice cream.  People were strolling around the square picking up bargains and eating lunch.  Once again mother nature hit about 1:00 pm with shower.  Performances on the Courthouse Plaza came to hold for about hour.  Greg Farmer Magic Show was big hit for young and old.  Greg performed 3 shows.  Amazing talent we have in this area.  6 hours on the Plaza we had entertainment from our local citizens.  The ribbon cutting and opening Celebration took  place at 5:15 pm.  Beale Street Flippers cap off the night with a high energy performance.  If that was not enough Saturday night the Lauderdale County Arts Council hosted the Germantown Symphony on the Plaza.  This weekend brought crowds to our downtown that many commented  was like weekends back in the 60's  when everyone came to town.  Downtown activities we will continue with our Concert Series this Thursday June 10 with the Tommie Currie Band performing.  Another reminder our downtown Farmers Market is open along with our Deli for breakfast and lunch.  Ripley tomato season is just around the corner.  Visit our local market.
